Who Picks Up Old Refrigerators, Washers and Dryers in the Temecula Valley?
Short answer: old appliances can't just go in the trash in California. We pick up refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers and water heaters from inside the house, the garage or the curb, and take them to be recycled for their metal. Refrigerators and freezers go to recyclers that handle the refrigerant.
Why can't an old fridge go in the trash?
California requires refrigerant and certain parts to be removed from major appliances before they're scrapped, so they can't go straight to a landfill. That's why most trash services won't take them in a regular pickup.
Can you take appliances from inside the house?
Yes. We use dollies and straps, protect floors on the way out, and carry appliances from the kitchen, laundry room, garage or upstairs. A refrigerator can weigh 250 pounds or more, so this is one job most people are glad to hand off.
What to do before we arrive
- Empty it and unplug it. Let a fridge or freezer sit unplugged for a while so it's not leaking.
- Disconnect water and gas. Shut off and disconnect water lines and gas lines before we come. We don't disconnect gas appliances.
- Clear the path from the appliance to the door.
How much does appliance removal cost?
Appliances are priced by how much room they take in our truck, from $148, plus a disposal fee for some items, like refrigerators and freezers with refrigerant. If you have several appliances or electronics, we charge only the single highest fee, not one for each. Our instant estimator shows the discount as you add items.
Do you recycle appliances?
Yes. Appliances we pick up go to metal recycling instead of a landfill. Clean, working appliances sometimes go to charity when one can take them.
Other options
If you're buying a new appliance, ask the store whether they'll haul the old one away on delivery. Some city trash haulers also take appliances as part of a bulky-item pickup; the bottom of each of our city pages lists what we found for that city.

Do you recycle old appliances?
